Bland to Bold

This week for makalani we were assigned a task to make a picture quite boring to big bold and colourfull. I chose brighter colours to make it stand out better. The before photo to me looked more olden day by the colours. Like the brown and dusky colours. Were the after photo is more primary colours like bright colours. I think I could have done better by filling in some colours that I forgot to fill. Like the eye's and the bottom of the chairs. And mabey thought about the colours a bit more like tryed to make a theme with the colours.

Holiday in PARIS!!

Do you think this is real or fake? Chole and I used slides, goggle drawing. We would have added more fetures to it if we had more time like shadows and make the lights darker. Hope you like it! And comment what you think.

This week in makalani we learnt about media. This is what I thought media was. We all thought types od media were things we have as apps. But there really things that tell us what media is, such as newspaper, 1 news, the am show. Also people like Jacinda Ardern that can speak to us about media.

Monkeys love bananas!!

https://makecode.com/_20C9UXP1KHjJ Press it to play the my game! Last term Hub mako (my class) went to Tonui co lab every Tuesday. Using a app called scratch we coded a game. Taking time to code my character to collect the bananas and lose a point when you hit a tree! Mack taught us how to make a background and make characters move and lots of others. It was really challenging to make it give you points every time you hit a banana.  Have a try and see if you can win!!

Is lockdown working?

On the 23rd March, our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, announced New Zealand will be going into level 4 lockdown, which I absolutely believe in. New Zealand has a low number of coronavirus cases and has suffered very few deaths. In saying that, I think it is also important to acknowledge the negative effects lockdown is having on our economy. A heartwarming result of lockdown for many families has been increased family time and community spirit.
The number of cases of covid-19 in New Zealand has remained very low. The majority of people followed the rules and stayed home. This helped prevent coronavirus from spreading throughout our community. We have now had two days in a row of zero cases! Preventing the spread of coronavirus is also helping save lives. Vulnerable people with low immunity like my grandmother have a high chance of not recovering if they were to get coronavirus.
Unfortunately lockdown has negative results too. Businesses still have bills to be paid with less money coming in. Some businesses have closed and unemployment is expected to increase. This would make very hard for families who are no longer working but still having to pay bills, rent and food for their families. Hopefully we are able to move to level 2 soon and everyone is able to get back to work.
Lockdown has brought families closer together and living in one house for a long time. Us kids have nothing on at all except online school. We have much more time to do our own thing with no after school activities. People are making sure elderly neighbours are doing alright in this new and different situation. Jacinda often says "be kind", which has been repeated positively throughout the community.
I believe lockdown is working. Few cases and low death rate proves this. Hopefully businesses will not be affected too much. The way Jacinda has led us through this unexpected time, "stay strong save lives" has been has very comforting.

My lockdown experience!!

I found it easy to put the background music. I found it hard to get the horse to stay still. How was your lockdown.

We were learning about...
I found it easy to colour in the sunset.
I found it hard to blend the colours together.
I really enjoyed drawing colouring the sunset.
Next time I need to put a bit more detail into the cross.
